The Concept: Siege Cascade with a Frosty Twist
The foundation of the build is Siege Cascade, a devastating totem skill that unleashes waves of projectiles in a forward arc. Many players lean into its default fire-based scaling, optimizing around raw elemental damage and penetration. But in true PoE fashion, Frozen Rain takes a different route-converting that fire damage to cold and layering freeze mechanics to lock down and annihilate enemies.Also,you can grow up quickly with POE 2 Currency Orbs.
The central piece of the puzzle? Blue Flame Bracers, which convert fire damage into cold damage. With them equipped, any converted fire-based skill-like Siege Cascade-should, in theory, deal cold damage, contributing to both chill and freeze status effects. The goal is to freeze and immobilize enemies consistently, unlocking Siege Cascade's 280% more damage multiplier against immobilized enemies. Except… they don't.
The Problem: Siege Cascade Refuses to Freeze
Despite the cold conversion, investment in freeze buildup, and supporting gear, Siege Cascade is only applying chill-never freeze. The issue becomes immediately apparent during testing. The freeze meter never builds. Chill is present and functioning, but not a trace of that all-important freeze effect.
Strangely, ballistas using the same cold damage setup do apply both chill and freeze, as expected. So what's different about Siege Cascade? That's the million-GP question.
Even with support gems like Hypothermia, Cold Penetration, and the gem that grants 35% more cold damage when freezing an enemy, there's no freeze application from Siege Cascade. Without freeze, that 35% modifier is wasted. Worse, the synergy with Pulsar Kilm's shatter effect only partially compensates-great for mapping, but a critical flaw for bossing.
Could it be a bug with Blue Flame Bracers? Are they failing to convert enough fire to cold on Siege Cascade? Or is it a hidden interaction in Siege Cascade itself that prevents freeze scaling despite dealing cold damage?
To make matters more frustrating, there's visual feedback suggesting freeze is being "suppressed.” When freeze buildup is present from a different skill and then Siege Cascade is used, the freeze bar visibly dims-like it's being reduced. This is a massive red flag that some mechanic is working against the freeze application.
Gear Setup and Investment
Despite the roadblocks, the Frozen Rain build has an impressive and carefully chosen gear suite:
·Blue Flame Bracers: Fire-to-cold conversion; central to freeze mechanics.
·Pulsar Kilm Ring: Makes chilled enemies shatter like frozen ones, enabling Herald of Ice explosions.

Bossing: Significantly worse. Without freeze, Siege Cascade's 280% more damage against immobilized enemies is much harder to maintain. The uptime on pin/freeze cycles is lost, and boss phases that rely on high burst windows suffer.
Theories and Troubleshooting
Several theories are in the air:
·Bug with Blue Flame Bracers: They may not be interacting properly with Siege Cascade.
·Siege Cascade's mechanic may prevent freeze buildup if it doesn't count as a direct hit source.
